Mechanical Project Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Take responsibility for the designing, estimating and management of projects as a member of the M&E team.
• Manage and prepare accurate costings and specifications for tenders and potential mechanical projects.
• Be responsible for the delivery of mechanical projects whether they are stand alone or an integral element of a larger project.
• Support colleagues in the wider business to resolve mechanical project issues effectively and efficiently.
• Ensure project costs are regularly monitored and reviewed and costs savings are achieved wherever possible.
• Projects are planned and implemented in a timely manner.
• Keep your manager up-to-date at all times with regards to the programme and delivery of each project.
• Manage the pool of mechanical subcontractors used by the business.
• Evaluate projects post completion and share learnings with the wider business where appropriate.
• Prepare and/or review site materials lists to ensure that appropriate material and quantities are being ordered for site.
• Implement quality control procedures to ensure that designs, drawings and specifications are correct when issued to either internal or external customers.
• Plan your activities to make the best use of your time.
• Support colleagues in conceptual and detailed design of enquiries, tenders and projects.
• Stay up to date with current legislation relevant to your team and area of responsibility and disseminate to the wider business where you consider it appropriate.
• Promote safe working at all times.
• Source new labour, direct or sub contractors to complete mechanical works if required.
• Ensure budgets are set and clear for projects whilst ensuring that costs are correctly captured and allocated
• Expedite site issues and problems
• Consider your Continuous Professional Development requirements and discuss and seek approval for any courses or associated expenditure to support this.
• Attend sites for progress meetings, to plan and to review ongoing works.
• Experience in the use of software design programmes is desirable but not essential
