The UK’s largest independently owned flexible packaging manufacturer is currently looking to appoint a dynamic Packaging Technologist to their growing business based in Grimsby, N.E Lincolnshire.

The Job:

Working as part of the Technical team you will conduct research & development projects in specialist areas and provide technical support providing guidance on parameters to solve issues. This role is Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm however, the role will require flexibility for travelling.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct project work in own specialist area, using project management techniques to ensure that a timeline is created and followed. All work should be documented in a way that information can be found easily.
Complete research and development in areas that may be new to the business. This may require self-learning, research and design of experiments in order to complete.
Work with supply base to gain information on development, compliance and to help resolve technical issues.
Liaise with other departments within the business in order to gain full details required for technical work; such as cost of materials, time scales and potential volumes.
Raise trials for new materials, new processes and new products within the business.
To produce professional, detailed reports and presentations for internal use, customers and suppliers to an agreed format.
To be a point of contact for internal and external technical support.
Conduct technical administration where required; including specifications and declarations of compliances.
Complete shelf life, material and chemical testing recording relevant information and creating testing reports.
Travel when required (incl. Europe) to support customer requirements, continued professional development, trials and complaints.
Provide training and support to others both within and external to the department.
Any additional ad hoc requirements within the department

Skills and Experience:

A full UK driving licence is required for this role
Experience of working in the packaging environment is preferred
Experience of Project management
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
Achieved a degree in a STEM subject
